Asserting that one Goa had won and another Goa had lost in the two essential agitations that defined Goa -- the historic Opinion Poll and the Language agitation -- Aam Aadmi Party leader Dr Oscar Rebello on Sunday said Goans will not be able to defeat the lobbies and evil forces unless these two Goas come together in the interest of the State.
“We are proud of the generation that voted for Goa and to make Konkani the official language. But, whether it was the Opinion Poll or the language agitation, you must comprehend that one Goa won and another Goa lost. Goans had fought against each other in these agitations. Unless, these two Goas come together, unless Jack Sequeria and Bhausaheb Bandodkar and not Jack Sequeira or Bhausaheb Bandodkar come together with the help of the many who are not born Goans, but who believe in honest politics, we will not be able to defeat the lobbies and evil forces working against Goa”, Dr Oscar said, while addressing AAP meeting at Benaulim on Sunday.
“To achieve this, people from the coastal belt must understand the customs and culture of Goans living in the hinterland. And, people from the hinterland must understand that the coastal belt is also Goa and make it their culture”, he said.
And, he asked, “Are we prepared to love and not to hate. Are we prepared to understand and not doubt. Are we prepared to fight together as one Goan to save our life”.
