Unlicensed chicken shop raided in Fatorda

Unlicensed chicken shop raided in Fatorda
The chicken seized in the FDA operation at Fatorda.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a raid on a chicken centre in Fatorda that was selling chicken without a valid licence and seized around 200 kilograms of meat.

The seized meat was later disposed of, and a notice was issued to the owner of the chicken centre.

During the inspection, it was found that the shop was carrying out wholesale and retail sales of chicken without the required licence and was storing the meat in unhygienic conditions.

Officials also observed that the refrigerator used to store the chicken had a broken door, which prevented it from maintaining the required temperature. In addition, several sacks of chicken were found lying uncovered inside the shop.

The FDA team seized approximately 200 kilograms of packed chicken worth about Rs 60,000.
