UPI transactions soar, Goa logs ₹162 cr average daily turnover

Goa has been logging an average daily turnover of ₹ 162 crore in transactions via the digital (UPI) mode, including apps of nationalised and private banks as well as digital payment gateways such as Google Pay, PhonePe, etc.

Union Finance Ministry released statistics show that in the three months of April, May and June this year an average of ₹ 162 crore has been transacted in Goa per day via the UPI app which includes the individual apps of nationalised and private banks and online payment gateways like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and BHIM Pay.

The finance ministry statistics also show a whopping ₹14,754 crore transacted in Goa through UPI apps in these three months.

In April, there were UPI transactions made in Goa worth Rs 5,041 crore, which rose to ₹ 5,659 crore in May. In June, the quantum dropped by ₹ 1,576 crore to ₹ 4,053 crore.

Among States, Goa was at the 23rd spot in terms of quantum of payments made through UPI apps in these three months while Maharashtra recorded the highest cash volume of transactions at ₹ 7.87 lakh crore.

Karnataka was at the second position followed by Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.

Among Union Territories, Delhi topped with the highest volumes of cash transacted in the April-June quarter aggregating ₹ 1.90 lakh crore.

In terms of number of transactions made via the UPI Apps, the finance ministry data shows that 10.5 crore transactions were made in Goa in the April-June quarter which averages at 3.5 crore per month and 11.53 lakh transactions per day.
