They pointed out that the staff manning the birth and death section allot them delayed dates to collect their birth certificates citing manpower shortage. r“Why is the government not streamlining the birth and death section in the Salcete Sub Registrar office? People of Salcete are being forced to make trips just to collect their birth certificates,” remarked Glory Estebeiro from Macazana. r The Salcete Sub Registrar office has been facing manpower shortage since the time of the previous Laxmikant Parsekar government. Though the Parrikar government dispatched a couple of additional staff to the office following the intervention of TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai, the situation has not changed for the better till date. r Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, who took up cudgels for the beleaguered residents, told the media that the government is busy in bringing casinos in the state, but has no time to resolve the issues facing the common man.
