PANAJI: The Phase III of the digitization of cable TV network for urban areas in the country will be completed by December-end. First two phases of the four phase programme is over. The overall digitization will be completed by 2016.
There will be complete transition to digital cable TV in phase IV by December 2016. In phase III, towns, municipal corporations and municipalities will be covered by December 2015. Complete digitization will provide several value added services including broadband for consumers.
The digitization of the cable TV network essentially means that the existing cable networks will stop carrying analog signals. In order to receive the digital signals, the consumers will have to install a Set Top Box else they will not be able to receive TV signals.
