Residents from Valpoi and some parts of the town were without power supply for over eight hours, after the main 33-KV line near Velus junction developed a fault on Wednesday morning.
The electrical line and the city feeder developed a fault at about 9 am. Some parts of Valpoi town were affected as power supply was not restored till late Wednesday evening.

Sources said the Valpoi electricity officials attended to the repair works immediately, but the fault couldn't be rectified for a long time and at about 7 pm, power supply was restored in some parts of the city, but the Valpoi Government Higher Secondary area was in the dark till late night.
It is learnt that Valpoi assistant engineer Ramdas Salelkar is on urgent leave and it it was not possible to contact him. When contacted, Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar assured to look into the issue seriously.
Valpoi locals have raised concern over the delay in restoring the power supply in the town.
Speaking to The Goan, hotel owner Sunil Katkar said the situation in Valpoi is bad for the last couple of days, as there is frequent power supply failures. "It also affects the hotels and other businesses," he complained.
