Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Thursday said Vasco constituency will undergo a major transformation, with several long-pending projects approved in the budget presented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the rehabilitation and upsising of the old sewer pipeline at Mangor in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker, Ward Councillor Narayan Borkar, and other officials.
“This project will have a new pipeline from Mangor to Ayyappa Temple at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore. The old sewer pipeline was not sufficient to cater to the rising population, leading to frequent overflows on roads and gutters, causing inconvenience to residents. We had proposed an upgrade of the sewage network across Vasco, and we received a sanction of Rs 15 crore. The current work is a part of this larger initiative,” Salkar stated.
“New sewage pumping stations are being set up, new pipelines are being installed, and old ones are being replaced along with the construction of new chambers. We will have around five new pumping stations to improve connectivity across Vasco.”
Salkar also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for approving the long-awaited bus stand project in the recent state budget.
“The project was announced in the budget on Wednesday, but the work has already been tendered, a consultant has been appointed, and a plan is ready. The construction will commence soon, and the detailed plan will be shown to the public by April-end,” he revealed.
Highlighting additional developments, Salkar stated, “The government has also sanctioned Rs 24 crore for underground electrical feeders in Mangor and Shantinagar. We have upgraded all electricity transformers across Vasco and received extra funds for road widening projects.”
“We are working on road widening near Tanya Hotel, where four culverts will be built, followed by expansion at Mestawada. Additionally, road widening near St Andrew’s Church has already begun. I request people to cooperate with us as these projects are being undertaken simultaneously,” he said.
Salkar assured residents of Vasco that significant changes are on the horizon.
“Vasco will soon have a completely new look, and the quality of life for our residents will improve significantly,” he added.
