Vasco HSS student bashes up classmate over a junior girl

5 DAYS AFTER PONDA STABBING

VASCO: Barely five days after a Std 11 student allegedly stabbed a HSSC student from a higher secondary school in Ponda, student rivalry took another ugly turn when an HSSC student was allegedly assaulted by a classmate and his cousin in the higher secondary school premises at Vasco on Monday.
The incident is reported to have taken place over an alleged love triangle and both the accused students were later arrested in this connection.
According to Vasco police, Ganapati Harijan (21) who resides near Shafi Masjid at Baina and a HSSC student from the higher secondary school, was allegedly assaulted by a classmate, Sagar Sarang (22) of New Vaddem, and his cousin, Vaibhav Sarang, who is also a student of the HSS.
Vasco Police said Sagar had liked a girl from Std 11 and was unhappy to find Ganapati regularly interacting with the girl during recess.
Sagar had reportedly cautioned Ganapati several times not to talk to the girl, but Ganapati ignored the warning and continued his interaction with the girl.
On Monday at about 10.30 am, Ganapati was going to attend classes with two other friends, when Sagar allegedly began assaulting Ganapati on his face, informed sources.
Sources said the friends tried to save Ganapati from being assaulted by Sagar and Vaibhav Sarang, also a student in the HSS, joined his cousin, Sagar, and they allegedly assaulted Ganapati.
Ganapati sustained injuries to his eyebrow after he was struck by Sagar's wrist watch and noticing blood oozing from his face, the two cousins stopped the assault but threatened him with dire consequences if Ganapati was found talking to the girl again.
Ganapati's friends took him to a hospital and later to the Vasco Police station, where a police complaint was filed.
Acting on the complaint, Vasco Police arrested both accused under Sections 324, 506 (ii) read with 34 IPC and they were later released as they are answering their exams.

Security lapses at
school, claim cops

VASCO: Police investigations into the assault incident involving three students reportedly revealed security lapses at the higher secondary school.
According to police sources, a Vasco police team went to the site for investigation and were surprised to find no security in the school and no CCTV installed in the premises.
Educational institutions were expected to have beefed up security in their premises, following the Vasco schoolgirl rape incident in 2013 and the recent murder of a schoolboy at the Ryan International School in Gurugram (Haryana).
