Vasco BJP MLA Krishna Salkar along with Vasco BJP Mandal President Deepak Naik and municipal councillors on Friday morning collected soil from various religious places like churches, temples and mosques in Vasco.
Speaking to reporters at Bramhasthal temple, Salkar said the soil would be dispatched to Delhi and would be used for the construction of the new Parliament House.
"As a message of unity, the Government has decided to use soil of various religious places for the construction work. We are all connected to soil and the people should feel that their soil has been used for the construction and they and their city or village have also contributed to the construction of the new Parliament House.”
“We have collected small amounts of soil today from various churches, temples and mosques. We will have a meeting in Panaji, where soil from various locations in Goa will be collected, offered prayers and finally sent to Delhi," said Salkar.
Vasco BJP Mandal President Deepak Naik said the central government has given the people an opportunity to contribute to the structure by means of soil from their religious places of worship, small or big without any discrimination.
"In the past, we sent a brick from here for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and we can always say that we have contributed to the structure. Similarly, people can today say with pride that they have contributed to the new Parliament House as well," said Naik.
