Vasco police bust prostitution racket at spa in Dabolim

Vasco police late on Friday night busted an alleged prostitution racket operating under the cover of a spa in Dabolim and rescued six women who were reportedly forced into the trade. Police said the raid took place between 7.57 pm on November 8 and 12.40 am on November 9 at Lotus Spa, Dabolim, after receiving reliable information that the premises was being used for illegal activities.

During the operation, police detained Nagesh Kumar, a resident of Dabolim and native of Chhattisgarh, and Bhimsing Kabeer Naik, also from Dabolim, for allegedly procuring and hiring the women for commercial gain and pushing them into prostitution. The six victims were rescued and shifted to the Protective Home in Merces.

A case has been registered under Sections 143 and 144 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Accused Nagesh Kumar has been arrested.

Further investigation is being conducted by PI Vaibhav Naik of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
