Vasco rape: police to issue lookout notice for godman

VASCO
Vasco Police will issue a lookout notice for the 46-year-old main accused self-proclaimed godman from Kundapur, who is accused of raping a 19-year-old girl from Vasco.
According to Vasco Police, the victim girl complained that the self-proclaimed godman sexually assaulted her at a guest house in Arpora on August 23. The victim further stated that Santosh Kumbhar of Nippani-Maharashtra, but residing in Mangor Hill at Vasco, allegedly took her in his car on the pretext of dropping her to her native place at Azra in Maharashtra and offered her a drink mixed with stupefied drug on the way. Santosh then took her to a guest house where the godman was present along with Nikhil alias Bunty Chavan of Bogmalo.
Police said upon the instructions of the accused godman, Kumbhar and Chavan left the room after which the godman allegedly sexually assaulted her and also threatened the victim with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.
Vasco Police have already arrested Santosh Kumbhar on Friday and Nikhil Chavan on Saturday. Kumbhar has been given 10 days remand, while Chavan has been given 11 days remand in police custody.
Vasco Police rushed to Kundapur on Saturday to nab the main accused, but returned empty handed.
"A team of Vasco Police visited Kundapur in Karnataka and conducted searches at the residence of the godman and other places where he could be hiding, but we couldn't nab him. However, we have some leads and important development in this case and we are confident that the godman will be arrested soon," said Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo.
"We will issue a lookout notice for the godman, as he is absconding," he added.
