Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore recently conducted a workshop on safety at its head office. The workshop’s theme was 'Journey to Zero Harm' and it was attended by over 80 participants comprising company employees, workmen representatives, including contractors and service providers.
Kishore Kumar, chief executive officer, Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore kicked off the session with a brief welcome address. A context setting to the workshop was done by A K Rai, chief technical advisor.
During the session, various speakers shared their learnings and case studies. Vivek Marathe, Inspector of Factories and Boilers, enlightened the participants about various ways of working on safety check lists and ticking them off to practice safety.
Dharmesh Angle, deputy superintendent of police north (traffic), spoke about road safety, precautions required to be taken and also elucidated the reasons for rise in accidents on the streets of Goa.
Phillip Turner, head safety and occupational health, Vedanta Group presented many case studies on how and why accidents are caused. His presentation also took the audience through a series of improved measures that can be practiced in our daily walks of life, if safety is made a habit.
