VALPOI
Barely a day after Bajrang Dal volunteers and Valpoi police foiled an attempt to smuggle around 400 kgs of beef from Belagavi into Goa, a group of youth from Keri-Sattari on Monday evening intercepted a vehicle smuggling 2 tonnes of meat.
According to reports, the youth from Keri had received information that beef would be transported from Belagavi area and they had been keeping a watch on vehicles entering the State via the Keri check post.
On Monday afternoon, they stopped a vehicle near the check post and found it to be transporting a large quantity of meat.
They alerted Valpoi police and a police team rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle along with 2 tonnes of meat. There were no documents to permit the transportation of the meat to Goa. The meat was later examined by a veterinary officer. Valpoi police has registered a case.
