Vehicle laden with LPG gas cylinders ‘intercepted', irregularities found

The LPG gas agencies were again under the scanner of the authorities after NGO GOACAN intercepted a vehicle delivering LPG cylinders at Raia village on Saturday morning without following the mandated procedures.

After an uproar at Raia, the LPG delivery vehicle was brought to the Maina Curtorim police station for further investigations. In his complaint, GOACAN convenor Roland Martins drew attention of the police that the vehicle did not have the signage displaying the name of petroleum company on it either by painting or banner display.
Moreover, he pointed out that the vehicle allegedly had cylinders with D-17 marking for delivery which is the expiry date was not explained to the consumers. The owner, however, disputed the claim saying the cylinder has come from the company after the mandatory check.
Martins have further pointed out to the police that the vehicle has not displayed the fire and emergency telephone No nor the precautionary instructions and did the vehicle had a fire extinguisher facility.
What has come as a shocking revelation is the delivery vehicle had a brand new weighing scale which was still in plastic packaging and not used during the delivery of the cylinders.
"We have requested the police to take an undertaking from the gas dealer from Margao to submit a lit of the vehicle Nos along with the completed procedures, including the fire and emergency details also action on the complaint," Martins told the media at the Maina Curtorim police station.
