Velim MLA assesses crop damage caused by rains

Velim MLA Cruz Silva on Friday visited farmers whose crops were severely damaged due to unseasonal rains.

Accompanied by Zonal Agriculture Officer Rajesh Da Costa and Assistant Rangel, the Velim MLA took stock of the damage that has been caused by the heavy rains. He said the unexpected weather has affected approximately 30 farmers, with crop losses spanning nearly 60,000 square metres.

Expressing his concern over the hardship faced by local farmers, the Velim MLA urged the government to provide immediate compensation and ensure swift relief measures.

He emphasised the urgency of supporting farmers during such crises and reiterated his commitment to advocating for agricultural resilience.
