Vasco man booked for storing sand, laterite stones without permission

Upon a complaint lodged by Ratnakant Govenker, Deputy Director, Department of Mines & Geology, the Maina-Curtorim police has registered a FIR against accused person Govind Lamani, aged 32 years, a resident of Sada Vasco, for having allegedly illegally transported and stored sand of around 580 cubic meters and laterite stones of around 530 cubic meters without any permission from authorities for personal gain.

Police said the incident had occurred at Loutolim prior to March 22, 2025. The FIR has been registered under 4 (1A) R/w 21 of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, Rule 3 R/w 62 of Goa, Daman and Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1985.
