After four service extensions, the Goa government has finally retired Water Resources Department (WRD) Chief Engineer Pramod Badami, whose latest extension ends on May 31.
Additional Chief Engineer (Irrigation Project) Dnyaneshwar Salelkar has been appointed to take over the post. He will hold the new charge in addition to his existing duties.
“Dnyaneshwar Salelkar, Additional Chief Engineer, Irrigation Project, Water Resources Department, shall hold the charge of the post of Chief Engineer (WR), Water Resources Department, in addition to his own duties, with effect from the date of superannuation of Pramod Badami, CE WRD, on May 31, 2025,” the Personnel Department stated in its order on Friday, the eve of Badami’s tenure.
The order came on the same day the Goa Commission for SC/ST recommended Badami’s immediate removal from extended service, calling his extension “illegal” and urging the government to consider Scheduled Tribe officers for the top post in accordance with the rules. The Commission had set a 30-day deadline.
Badami was one of five department heads who had been granted extensions since January 2022.
In a separate order, the government appointed the Managing Director of Goa Waste Management Corporation, Ankit Yadav (IAS), as the new North Goa Collector. He replaces Yashaswini B (IAS), who is the Director of Fisheries and was holding the North Goa charge as an additional responsibility.
The government has also assigned portfolios to IAS officers Sarpreet Singh Gill and Prasanna Acharya.
