Velim MLA Cruz Silva on Wednesday led a delegation of constituents to the South Goa district Collector Jyoti Kumari demanding the scrapping of the controversial towers proposed at Sao Jose de Areal, Dramapur-Sirlim, Chinchinim and Assolna villagers.
Villagers from these areas have been agitating against the mobile towers proposed in the government property belonging to the education and sports department, besides PWD on the ground that they are being installed in densely populated areas.
The delegation explained to the Collector the objections as well as the grievances of the public and why the towers need to be relocated.
They pointed out that the government agencies should not bulldoze with the mobile towers by citing the IT Infrastructure Policy, further pointing out that the towers are being built by bypassing the panchayats.
