Expressing hope that his party will rule the State in the next five years, President of Goa Suraksha Manch Subhash Velingkar has hit out politicians who try to lure voters with cash and gifts.
Velingkar was speaking after opening the party’s election campaign office at Shiroda on Thursday.
GSM’s Shiroda candidate Santosh Satarkar, Adv Swati Kerkar, Utkarsh Prabhu Borkar, Atmaram Gaonkar, Adv Sonali Naik, Nitin Phaldesai, Abhay Khaunte, Govind Dev and others were present on the occasion.
“GSM will rule the State in five years. We will make party stronger. We have self respect and hence we can do it,” Velingkar said.
He also said that their capital is candidates with good character and sincere.
“We will not hire candidates from other parties and our candidates are sincere,” he said.
“Nowadays, politicians are in the race to make money. They take commissions directly from contractors and then use this money to lure voters. We need to eradicate this corrupt practice,” Velingkar said.
“In democracy, public is the king. But here, we pay for medical bills of ministers, even if they are treated in America. Common people don’t get such facilities,” he said.
He also questioned the need to elect politicians who ruin the whole system of democracy.
“This dirty-level politics must be eradicated. Show guts to teach a lesson to such corrupt politicians. This is Visham yuddh (inequality war), where we have we have to fight against ‘powerful’ politicians,” said Velingkar.
He cited the example of lord Ram who fought against Ravan, who was mightier with all powers. “Ram won although he had no soldiers and powers like Ravan,” he said.
Swati Kerkar said they want to give a new direction to politics. “What has happened in Shiroda is dirty politics. Those who go on changing parties should be sent home,”
she said.
“We have no money to distribute water tanks and also to distribute sarees to mahila mandals,” said Kerkar, while taking a dig at other politicians. Satarkar also spoke on the occasion.
