Verla assault case: Police arrests another 3 accused

Anjuna Police on Wednesday evening arrested three more persons in connection with the brutal assault case against a Verla-based businessman and two of his associates.

The accused, Durgadas Chandrakant Morajkar (34) of Mainath Bhati, Arpora, Shivesh Shivanand Divkar (24) of Sankwadi, Arpora and Vinay Kamlakant Divkar (25) of Kudas waddo, Arpora were arrested by the police.

All three will be produced for remand on Thursday.

It may be recalled, the first arrest in the case was made on June 30 when the alleged accused Pramod Shirodkar (33) was nabbed.

However, the main accused in the case Rohan Harmalkar is yet to be arrested and according to police, is absconding.

It may be recalled, the Verla-based businessman Roy Fernandes and two of his associates were assaulted by a gang of five persons for allegedly exposing a hill cutting incident.

Fernandes had suffered head injuries while the other two of his other associates “ Agni Ahmed and Emmanuel D’Souza “ had also suffered serious injuries.

Fernandes and one of his men were admitted to a private hospital while his third associate was treated for fracture in Goa Medical College and Hospital.

Based on the complaint of Fernandes, Anjuna Police had booked the main accused Rohan Harmalkar and five others in connection with the assault.
