Verna police bust prostitution racket

Verna Police on Saturday night conducted a surprise raid and busted a prostitution racket arresting two persons and rescuing a victim girl who was later sent to the protective home at Merces for care and protection.
According to Verna PI Sandesh Chodankar, the raid was conducted on Saturday evening near Birla Cross Junction.
"We have arrested one 19-year-old Saroj Surendra Betkikar, C/o Vasant Gaunekar of Mount Marry colony, Verna and resident of Betqui, Marcel, Ponda who had procured the victim girl from Maharashtra and was supplying her to prospective customers. He was caught red-handed while delivering the girl to a customer for the purpose of prostitution and living on her earnings," said Chodankar.
"We have also arrested another accused 37-year-old Mangala Vishal Kuradkar residing near Royal Palms Resorts, Benaulim but native of Khar East, Mumbai. Both the accused are placed under arrest and are in police custody," he added.
Verna police is further investigating.
