Veteran Congressman from Cuncolim and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Vice-president, Moti Desai, passed away on Monday
after a brief illness. He was 74 years old.
Party bigwigs, including Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat, GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar, former Chief Minister and Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, party workers, Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai and people from all walks of life paid respect to the departed soul.
In his condolence message, the Leader of Opposition said he is saddened by the passing away of the Congress leader, saying Moti’s contribution to the party will always be remembered.
“He was a staunch Cuncolkar and worked to grow Congress party from the grassroots level. He was a good artist and had performed in various tiatrs. He had written and presented around five tiatrs and given an opportunity to many actors to come on the stage. He was a “neta” as well as “abhineta”, Kamat stated.
In his condolence message, Luizinho Faleiro said, “In the passing away of Moti Desai, I have lost a trusted, personal friend and a steadfast colleague. He was a staunch Congressman”.
The South Goa District Congress office also paid tributes to Moti Desai. District President Joe Dias led the party in paying tributes to the party leader along with GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar, MLA Luizinho Faleiro, Aleixo Sequeira, party Vice-presidents Altinho Gomes and M K Sheikh, PCC leader Subhash Faldesai, Deepak Kharangate, Peter, Royla Fernandes, Yemen D’Souza and others.
