Vibrant Margao plays devp card for civic poll mandate

MARGAO
The BJP-backed Vibrant Margao on Monday unveiled its candidates for the 25-member Margao civic body, with panel Chairman Damu Naik and convenor Rajendra Talak promising to usher in the development of the commercial capital.

Barring a change in candidates in a couple of wards post-Supreme Court verdict on reservations, the Vibrant Margao panel has batted for the candidates announced earlier.

The candidates and the BJP leaders invoked the blessings of Lord Dambab and offered prayers at the St Francis Xavier chapel before launching their official campaign on Monday.

Addressing the media, Damu Naik said that the panel is making every attempt with the blessing of Lord Dambab and Madgavnkars to win the ensuing battle of the ballots. “We know just 8-10 days are left for the election. The door-to-door campaign is presently underway. We have made all attempts to reach out to the people of Margao to support our candidates,” Damu said.

Convenor of Vibrant Margao panel, Rajendra Talak, made a fervent plea to give the panel a huge mandate by getting all the 25 candidates elected to the civic body. “A huge mandate will only boost the morale of the candidates to put in more work for the city,” he said.

Talak took the platform to assure Madgavkars that once elected the panel will complete cent per cent of the promises listed in the election manifesto.
