Vijai: Party ready to give up Khadi Corp to sulking MGP

With accusations coming forth from the coalition partner, MGP that the Goa Forward has pocketed plum positions in the government led by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday said the regional party is willing to sacrifice a chairmanship of a Corporation if that satisfies the MGP leadership.

Reliable sources in the Goa Forward party informed that the party supremo is willing to surrender the Khadi and Village Industries Board, which is presently lying vacant following the demise of Goa Forward leader Monica Dias.
In fact, it is reliably learnt that the issue of handing over the Khadi and Village Industries Board to the MGP was discussed by Chief Minister with Goa Forward chief, with Sardesai reportedly giving his nod for the proposal.
"I and the Goa Forward party leadership is ready to sacrifice in the interest of coalition government. The party is ready to sacrifice Chairmanship of a Corporation if the MGP leadership feels that Goa Forward party is ruling the coalition government," Sardesai said, after a meeting of the Goa Forward party on Wednesday.
He, however, was categorical in saying the Goa Forward will not surrender or sacrifice any ministerial berth, asserting that the party is willing to only surrender the Chairmanship of a Corporation. "We have heard so many things from the MGP leadership. One of them have even said that the Goa Forward is ruling the coalition government. That's the reason why I have decided to sacrifice the chairmanship," he said.
Replying to another question, he firmly denied that the government has any proposal to include any of the Salcete villages in the South Goa Planning and Development Authority. "There's no proposal on this count. And, I want to make clear that no village from Salcete will be included in the SGPDA as planning areas," Sardesai said.
