The issues regarding illegal constructions, hotmixing of roads, house tax, cutting of branches of trees, cleaning of drains, parking fees, etc were discussed in the gram sabha of Salvador do Mundo which was attended by only 4 panch members out of 9.
The Sarpanch Bindiya Naik welcomed the gathering and the panchayat secretary Dinesh Khorjuvenkar read out the minutes of the last gram sabha meeting.
Dinesh Dias sought to know whether the panchayat has carried out the site inspection of the residential four-storeyed building near primary school at Paithona. He mentioned that the owner of this building has converted this residential building into commercial building. He has converted 10 flats into 37 rooms and given the same on rent . Similarly stilt parking has been converted into godown.
The panchayat secretary Dinesh Khorjuvenkar mentioned that panchayat has carried out the inspection of the aforesaid building and have found some illegalities .Hence panchayat has decided to issue a notice to the owner of the building seeking his clarification .The owner must have carried out alternations after obtaining occupancy certificate, said Khojuvekar.
The villagers sought to know as to when Tourism department will make their presentation in the panchayat in regard to development and beatification of Torda creek.
The panchayat secretary Khorjuvenkar mentioned that panchayat has received a letter from Tourism department stating that their officials are unable to give presentation on Sunday. Hence villagers suggested that special extra-ordinary gram sabha may be convened on any working day and request the tourism department to give their presentation.
The villagers mentioned that electricity department has dug roads everywhere in the panchyat area and all these road need to tarred before monsoon .The secretary replied that panchayat had already written a letter to Public Works Department to tar these roads prior to monsoon..
The villagers requested the panchayat to cut the branches of the dangerous trees hanging over the electric wires to avoid power outages .The secretary replied that panchayat has already prepared a list of such dangerous trees and submitted to the collector for further action.
The residents suggested charging higher house tax for the new constructions to generate revenue as also to charge parking fees for the vehicles parked in the panchayat premises. The panch member Namrata Chodankar proposed vote of thanks
