Vishwajeet disqualification plea hearing on Friday

The disqualification petition filed by the Congress party against former Congress legislator Vishwajit Rane was adjourned after it came up for hearing after it transpired the respondents including Vishwajit Rane were yet to be served notices in the matter.

The Congress filed the petition before the Bombay High Court at Goa seeking the disqualification of Rane from contesting elections, on grounds that he abstained from voting in favour of the party during the floor test despite having signed on the whip ahead of the vote.

The petition is now expected to be taken up on Friday.
