A waiter working at a Vagator resort has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his manager during a heated altercation on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 4 pm near the bar counter of White Flower Cottages in Vagator. According to police, the accused, identified as Mohamad Ibrahim Ashraf (35), a native of Delhi, was employed as a waiter at the property.
Police said Ashraf got into an argument with the resort manager, Sunil Singh (34). The verbal altercation soon escalated, following which Ashraf allegedly picked up a knife from the bar counter area and attacked Singh.
He is accused of stabbing the manager on the neck with the intention to kill, resulting in a serious bleeding injury.
Other staff members present at the scene intervened promptly, managing to restrain the accused and snatch the knife from him before further harm could be caused.
The injured manager was provided medical assistance, while the accused was taken into custody.
Police have registered an offence under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Ashraf. Further investigation is underway.
