Social worker Warren Alemao joined the Congress along with his supporters on Tuesday, citing the objectives of the ‘Goy Rakhonn Yatra’ as the driving force behind his political decision.
Speaking to the media during his induction ceremony at Congress House, Alemao said he had joined the party with a clear objective of working towards removing the BJP from power. “The reason why I joined Congress was due to a single motto, which is the motto of the ‘Goy Rakhonn Yatra’. We don’t want BJP and corruption in Goa, and we have to throw them out,” he said.
Highlighting the problems faced by residents of the Benaulim constituency, Alemao pointed to the lack of employment opportunities for local youth despite the presence of several five-star hotels in the area. Alemao also raised concerns over the difficulties faced by traditional shack operators and taxi operators, alleging that their livelihoods were under pressure.
Emphasising his commitment to the Congress, Alemao said he intended to remain with the party for the long term.
