Waste dumping along the Mungul-Colva road in Seraulim village has sparked outrage, with environmentalist Clinton Vaz questioning how garbage is still being dumped despite door-to-door waste collection by local bodies.

Vaz, along with his staff, visited the site and cleared bundles of waste from the roadside. He expressed concern over waste being dumped despite collection services by the Margao Municipal Council and surrounding panchayats, including Seraulim.

Waste collector Josepha appealed to people to stop roadside dumping, saying it poses health risks to workers. “We are also human beings and can fall ill due to such waste,” she said.

Seraulim Sarpanch Seema Shanke said the panchayat collects both wet and dry waste and warned of strict action against offenders.

Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas termed the dumping disturbing and regretted that people continued the practice despite CCTV cameras being installed near the Seraulim underpass to curb violations.
