Water crisis hits Sattari, villages struggle for over a week

VALPOI

A number of villages in Sattari have been hit by water shortage since the last eight days on account of work at the Dabos Water Treatment plant.

Officials are, however, confident that water supply will be restored by Monday.

At present, water is being supplied through tankers in the affected parts of Sattari taluka.

The Dabos Water Treatment Plant has a capacity of 15 MLD and work is underway undertaken under the Amrit II scheme to increase the capacity by 2.50 MLD. The ongoing work has forced authorities to shut down water supply, thereby affecting a number of villages.

Locals have complained that the water shortage has taken place at a time when a number of festivals are taking place all over the taluka. At present, festivals are taking place at Koparde, Charvane, Hiware and Zarme areas of Sattari taluka.

Some aggrieved locals met Poriem MLA Dr Deviya Rane and she assured to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
