Water supply hit in Ponda and Tiswadi after power failure at Opa

PANAJI

The newly formed Department of Drinking Water (DDW) has announced the disruption of water supply to Ponda and Tiswadi talukas following a breakdown of power supply at the Opa water works.

A senior DDW official said electrical failure at Opa led to the water treatment plant and the pumping station there becoming dysfunctional.

The department has advised the public in these two talukas to use water sparingly until normalcy in the water supply operations is restored.

The DDW official said teams are working round the clock on the repair work currently underway at Opa-Khandepar and normal operations are expected to recommence soon.
