Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday chaired a meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on GST Revenue Analysis in Delhi, focusing on ways to improve revenue collection and address compliance gaps.
The meeting looked at GST trends in different states and discussed sector-specific concerns as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s indirect tax system. A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said the meeting covered a comparison of revenue trends before and after GST, identified leakages in specific sectors, and highlighted the need for timely corrective steps.
The GoM also reviewed how well current enforcement tools are working and noted the need to assess their performance on the ground. Discussions also covered improving traceability through e-invoicing and upgrading IT systems.
“State-specific policy suggestions aimed to boost revenue and coordination between Central and State tax administrations were also discussed,” it stated.
Speaking at the meeting, CM Sawant stressed the need for a strong and fair GST system. “Our aim is to ensure a robust and equitable GST framework that strengthens India’s fiscal ecosystem and supports the vision of One Nation One Tax,” he said.
The GoM has decided to hold further meetings as needed to collect data from all states and union territories. After reviewing the inputs, it will prepare recommendations for the GST Council.
