Residents warn of agitation if problems recur
Responding to angry reactions from residents over severe water shortage in Masorde village of Sattari for the past four days, the water supply department took steps to restore water supply in the village.
Residents have, however, warned that they will launch an agitation if a similar water shortage arises again in the future.
The sudden disruption in water supply at Masorde village, which is very close to the Dabos water project, caused great inconvenience to residents as the taps remained dry for four days.
Many residents tried to contact water supply officials and when they failed to receive satisfactory answers, aggrieved women residents had threatened to stage a protest with empty water pots to the office.
Responding to this threat, water supply officials rushed to take immediate measures and restored the water supply in the village.
When contacted, officials from the water supply office at Valpoi said excavation work is underway in Masorde to lay a new water pipeline. They acknowledged that this was the reason for the disruption in water supply.
The officials clarified that the water supply is regular at present and care will be taken to ensure that there are no further disruptions in the future.
