Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha launched works worth Rs 37 lakh through the PWD (Water Division) at Zuarinagar in Sancoale.
The works include laying of 100 mm DI water pipeline from MDR near Mahadev Gawas house to Hanuman Temple and improvement of water supply at Zorint-Zuarinagar and surrounding areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Saldanha said residents in both areas approached her due to water problems faced and accordingly, proposals were submitted to PWD to lay pipelines to augment water to residents in the area.
“The works are being executed and public woes related to water will soon end. Many works which were scheduled to start have been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic,” said Saldanha.
Ward Panch Satish Padwalkar said there was a need to lay a new water pipeline in the area as the existing water pipeline passes through the drainage, which is unhygienic and poses a health risk.
Others present on the occasion included PWD Assistant Engineers Naresh Paiguinkar and technical assistant Mohan Naik.
