The two-government run Covid hospitals in Margao, South Goa District Hospital and the ESI Hospital, saw further decline in the number of patients undergoing treatment, with the bed availability in these two hospitals touching close to the 550-mark during the weekend.
For the first time since the second Covid wave affected large section of the pollution, the number of patients admitted to the South Goa District Hospital is put at around 200, while the ESI Hospital has around 58 patients.
That’s not all. The number of active Covid cases in entire Salcete saw a further dip on Saturday, with the all the health centres, including the Margao Urban Health centre recording less number of cases.
Statistics revealed that the number of vacant beds in the South Goa district hospital was put at 336 as against the total 568 bed-capacity.
Similarly, the ESI hospital, Margao had around 177 beds vacant on Saturday evening as against the 235 capacity.
ESI Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai informed that the number of Covid patients housed in the hospital was around 60 late Saturday.
He said the ESI Hospital saw only five new admissions during the last 24 hours while a total of 12 patients were discharged from the hospital during the same period.
