He was responding to a question raised by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida who alleged that drugs were freely available in Vasco and that, police were hand-in-glove with drug peddlers.
“I can tell you about 8-9 spots where drugs are freely available. You can go outside colleges”, said Almeida.
Stating that the issue of drugs in the State is not as simple as it seems to be, the chief minister said, “We hear of such instances happening outside reputed educational institutes wherein drugs are freely available at nearby kiosks. I have already spoken to the police on this issue. I am not satisfied with the answer they have given. But we have to act firmly on this menace.”
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, “Two such incidents were registered last month. One was registered on July 25, wherein three accused were nabbed separately at Khariwada jetty in the port town with 332, 256 and 225 grams of ganja.
