MARGAO
Even as Congress has announced Avertano Furtado for the Navelim seat, questions are being raised why the party has still not cleared the list in the party strongholds of Velim and Nuvem constituencies.

Incidentally, Party working President Aleixo Sequeira and party South Goa district Congress president, Joe Dias, are amongst the probable candidates for the Nuvem and Velim seats respectively.

Besides Joe Dias, the other three probable candidates shortlisted for the Velim seat are Velim Sarpanch Savio D’Silva, former Independent MLA Benjamin D’Silva and ex-Sarzora Sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas.

For the Nuvem seat, around five candidates, including former Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira, GPCC general secretary Everson Vales, Zarina Da Cunha and Jose Raju Cabral were shortlisted for the party ticket.

However, Jose Raju Cabral has since quit the Congress to join the Trinamool Congress, while activist Zarinha is not interested in the ticket.
