In a development that has raised many an eyebrow, Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo on Tuesday was categorical in saying that he and Salcete lone Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues will not hesitate to take any decision to protect the interest of the people of Goa.
Asserting that the duo will stand by the people of Goa to see that only good things happens in Goa in the interest of the people, Lobo said he and Filipe Neri are committed to protect Goa’s land and the people and will take any decision to protect the interest of the people.
Speaking at the function held to unveil the plague of Cardinal Valerian Gracias Road at Dramapur in Fisheries Minister Filipe Neri’s Velim constituency, Lobo asserted that he and Filipe Neri will together see that only good things will happen in the State.
While saying that Filipe Neri has been candid in pointing the wrongs committed by the government, the Waste Management Minister expressed his solidarity with the Fisheries Minister, saying “I am with you and we with the people of Goa will only do whatever that is wanted by the people”.
Invoking the name of Father of Opinion Poll, Dr Jack de Sequeira and other leaders for their sacrifices to protect Goa, Lobo said “we are indebted to Jack de Sequeira and other leaders for protecting our land and people. We are committed for that no matter what comes. If something happens, and we have to take any decision in the interest of the people, we will take that decision taking into account the interest of the people. This is the commitment we make and this is a commitment every Goan should make to protect their land and people”.
While Filipe Neri did not utter a word on the Melauli incident or the agitations brewing in the State over coal and track doubling, Michael said Filipe Neri had come to the government to do good for the people. “Whenever he saw something wrong taking place, he told the Chief Minister that things are going in the wrong directions. I salute Filipe Neri for drawing attention of the government when things go wrong”, he said.
