Will ‘double engine’ propel BJP in Navelim?

MARGAO
Will the double engine BJP government at the Centre and in Goa help the BJP flag fly atop the village panchayats of Aquem-Baixo, Rumdamol and Davorlim in Navelim constituency.

Making no secret of the party fielding party-backed panels in these three village panchayats, first time Navelim BJP candidate Ulhas Tuenkar exuded confidence that people of these three villages will give the party a mandate in the panchayat polls because of the development work ushered in the State by the double engine government in Goa headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and at the Centre by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Our workers are in the fray in these three village panchayats. People from these three panchayats are aware of the development carried out by the BJP,” he said.

On the devolution of powers for the panchayat bodies, Ulhas said the panchayat bodies in the State enjoy powers, but hastened to add that the BJP government will certainly look into issues of powers for the panchayats. “I am hundred percent confident that the BJP flags will fly high in these three panchayats in Navelim constituency,” the MLA added.

Even as the first time BJP MLA has exuded confidence of the party flag flying high in the village panchayats of Aquem-Baixo, Davorlim and Rumdamol, the BJP camp appeared divided in the these areas, especially in the village of Aquem-Baixo where party workers have crossed swords against each other.
