Winners of vivo Ignite Awards announced

Vivo, in collaboration with NCERT and iHub DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee, announced the National Winners of its country-wide initiative, the ‘vivo Ignite: Technology and Innovation Awards’. Held on Feb 10th at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, the event welcomed Chief Guest Rajendra Prasad Singh, Chief Scientist and Head, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

Ten National Finalists showcased innovative projects, with the Top 5 declared National Winners. The initiative, open to Indian students of grades 8 to 12, ran from November 2023 to February 2024, garnering over 19,000 registrations and 4,000 projects nationwide. The first prize, worth Rs 7 lakhs, was awarded to SMART STREET - Where innovation meets sustainability, presenting a prototype for safer, greener, scenic roads. Geetaj Channana, Head of Corporate Strategy, vivo India, commended the students’ creativity.

Runners-up shared cash prizes totaling INR 14 lakhs, while 6th to 10th finalists received INR 25,000 each.

Prof (Dr.) Indu Kumar, Head, Department of ICT and Training Division, CIET – NCERT, lauded the initiative’s impact on fostering innovation. Certificates and goodies will be awarded to all 10 National Finalists and 200 zonal winners. The jury, comprising academicians and industry experts, evaluated projects based on creativity, innovation, scalability, and societal impact. The initiative aligns with the “Scientific Social Responsibility” agenda of the Department of Science and Technology, GOI. Last year’s edition recognized ten National Winners, awarding cash prizes exceeding INR 25 lakhs.
