Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Thursday said with Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha leaving the BJP, it would now be easier for the BJP to win all four seats in Mormugao taluka.
He was speaking to reporters at Chicalim Panchayat after inaugurating the Mormugao Panchayat Mahotsav Festival 2021, where 10 panchayats of Mormugao taluka will organise various social and cultural programmes to commemorate the 60th year of Goa Liberation Day.
"We are more certain of getting all four seats now, and I can say with confidence because I had a difficult time getting her elected from Cortalim and the entire Sancoale knows how much I worked overtime for her victory. Selection of candidates is the job of the party and getting them elected is my job," said Godinho.
Godinho said all panchayats in Goa would conduct programmes to commemorate the 60th year of Goa Liberation and funds were also provided for the programme.
The minister said the Mormugao Panchayat Mahotsav Festival 2021 will display and sell different items in stalls by the Mahilas and the Self Help Groups.
“I am glad all 10 panchayats of Mormugao taluka have joined hands for a two-day festival at Chicalim Panchayat and people from all 10 panchayats will have stalls, engage in various social and cultural programmes and also sell traditional homemade Christmas sweets and pickles," said Godinho.
