Goa Airport Director Gagan Malik on Friday was confident on an increase in passengers at the airport as Covid cases were on the decline and with a growing number of people getting vaccinated across all states.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a new toilet block facility at Airport, Malik said the passenger footfalls at the airport had been increasing in the last few days.
"As far as the scheduled international flights are concerned, flights have been suspended till July 31 but there is an increase in domestic flights.”
“Though passenger footfalls may be less, we have 19 flights operating today. This is indicative that with so many flights on a working day, we can expect things to get better as vaccination takes place.”
“Cases are on the decline after which all states can come together and work out something in a better manner," said Malik.
The airport director said the staff had to be fully prepared for an increased workload.
“When flight operations after the first wave, we had to work extra as suddenly saw a huge surge in passengers.”
“We have already gone for the terminal building extension and work has started. I want to reassure that things will surely improve soon at Dabolim airport,” said Malik.
