A 29-year-old Ponda woman has been charged of allegedly coercing a 17-year-old teenage boy to have sex with her, Mapusa police said.
The victim, a minor, who is also from Ponda, had escaped from home and was residing with the woman at Cunchelim, Mapusa, police sources informed.
Around three months back soon after their son went missing, the parents had lodged a missing report with the Ponda police.
Last week, the parents learnt that their son was employed at a petrol pump in Mapusa. They took the help of the Ponda police to locate him and took him home.
After some days, the boy began to behave abnormally and therefore the parents decided to admit him to Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB).
During one of the counselling sessions at the IPHB, the boy revealed that the woman was sexually assaulting him.
On Sunday, the mother of the boy lodged a complaint with Mapusa police.
After recording the statement of the minor victim, police sent the boy for medical examination, sources said.
The medical report received on Tuesday stated that the boy was potent, police sources revealed.
"We will soon summon the woman for inquiry and only then decide on the next of course of action," police sources said.
It is learnt that the woman was a divorcee and has three children, one of whom is just four months old.
Meanwhile, police have booked the woman under Sections 4 and 12 of POCSO Act and Section 8 of Child Act.
Mapusa Police is investigating the case.
