Women Ghumat Arti groups have been taking the spotlight during Chaturthi in Sattari, with several groups being set up in different parts of taluka.

Since the last five years, women, both married and spinsters, have been coming forward to participate in Ghumat Arti performances.

These women Ghumat Arti groups have been seen performing during Chaturthi in several villages and have drawn appreciation from people far and wide.

Such has been the response that some Ghumat Arti trainers in the taluka have made special efforts to train these women in the Ghumat Arti groups.

One such Ghumat Arti trainer is Ramkrishna Gawas from Morle-Sattari who has trained over 10 women Ghumat Arti groups in Sattari.

“Efforts are being made to create Ghumat Arti groups in each village, to ensure that this traditional art is preserved and promoted in the takuka,” said Gawas.

Among the different women Ghumat Arti groups include the Ghumat Aarti Group (Koparde), Baravash Ghumat Aarti (Morle), Azoba Ghumat Aarti Mandal (Keri), Sateri Kelbai Ghumat Aarti Mandal (Morle) and Jai Ganesh Ghumat Aarti Mandal (Khotode). Many of these groups have even excelled at the state level.
