Work begins for renovation of Dongrim crematorium

Upgradation work of facility to cost Rs 79 lakh

OLD GOA

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar inaugurated the work to renovate the Hindu crematorium at Dongrim-Mandur at a cost of Rs 79 lakh.

The renovation includes the upgradation of existing infrastructure, including cremation platforms, waiting areas, and sanitation facilities.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Borkar said it was a long-pending demand of the locals from the Azossim-Mandur panchayat areas for the renovation of the crematorium.

Borkar stated that once renovated, the crematorium would provide a dignified farewell and a respectful environment for families during their time of grief.

When questioned, Borkar said that though a time-frame could not be given, it should be completed in three to six months’ time.

Azossim-Mandur Sarpanch Prashant Naik, panchas Francisco Po, Nandesh Mayekar and Premanand Kuttikar, Shree Shasti Shantadurga Temple committee members, villagers, PWD officials, locals and others were present on the occasion.
