PANAJIr rSpeaking to The Goan, Principal Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department Uttam Parsekar has informed that the entire work of checking the bridges including the steel would take more than a month to complete after which a report will be filed. rIn the wake of the tragedy, Parsekar has said that they will prepare a report seeking further government action in the matter. r“A safety audit of all the old bridges will be conducted and a detailed report will be forwarded to the government for further action,” Parsekar had said. rThe audit was initiated after a bridge collapse at Curchorem claimed the lives of two persons, while a third person is believed to have committed suicide adding to the total casualties.

Work on the audit of old and weak bridges promised by the Public Works Department in the wake of the Sanvordem bridge tragedy has begun with officials fanning out to do a “visual inspection” of the bridges across the state.
