Addressing media persons at an event to announce the AYUSH festival of stamps, Naik said that he would ensure that 80% jobs would be reserved for Goans.
"We have got 50 acres of land from the Sports Department. Within the next 8-10 days we will get possession. Our tenders are ready and work can start soon. The project is a big one, there already is an MoU with the government of Goa and that MoU will ensure that 80% jobs will be reserved for Goans. Among the remaining 20% if there are people available here (Goans) they will be given priority but for certain professor posts which locals are not available will have to be brought from outside Goa," Naik said.
He said Goa was the ideal location as being a tourist centric state would be able to promote yoga and health touris.
"Goa is a tourism state. Yoga will help tourism and vice versa. We will set up special yoga cottages where foreign tourists can come and learn yoga. We want to attract them and promote health and yoga tourism. " Naik said.
Naik also reaffirmed plans for setting up an AYUSH hospital in each district in the country and in Goa too one is being planned in Bicholim taluka and another in the vicinity of Margao.
"We are giving money for setting up 50 beds hospitals and it will come at a cost of Rs 12.5 crore. 60% of the cost will be borne by the central government. We have approvals for both the districts. State govt has made a provision and central government's share has already been given to the state. So the place has been finalised and then they will be built -- one in Sanquelim and another around Margao," Naik said.
