Motorists and commuters have complained about the inconvenience caused due to many roads being dug by the Electricity Department in Mandrem constituency for the underground cabling work.
Locals allege that the contractor has closed the main road and traffic is being diverted on other roads.
They complained that traffic police teams are not deployed nor are there any signages to caution road users of the closure of the roads during the roadworks.
The main road has been dug up for the past one-and-half months and work is still going on. At the Tuem power station, the main road has been dug up and the road was closed from both the ends on Monday, disrupting traffic in the area.
Locals said work on the underground cabling project left the roads narrow and dusty, making it difficult for traffic to pass.
