A 43-year-old construction worker from Zuari Nagar died after reportedly slipping and falling while on duty at a construction site inside the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) premises at Sada on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Mantesh Madar, a native of Bagalkot and resident of Zuari Nagar.
According to Mormugao Police, Madar was working at the NCPOR construction site when he slipped and fell while removing an iron plate attachment locally referred to as a “munda.”
Police said Madar was immediately rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chicalim by his relatives, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Following the incident, Mormugao Police conducted an inquest panchanama, and the body was sent to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for post-mortem examination.
The body was later handed over to the family members for final rites. Mormugao Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The enquiry is being conducted by PSI Suraj Naik of Mormugao Police Station under the supervision of PI Sherif Jacques and guidance of DySP Gurudas Kadam.
