World AIDS Day observed
PANAJI: YUVA organized a candle light gathering on the occasion of World AIDS Day on December 2, at Jogger’s Park, Altinho. YUVA members made a red ribbon on the stage and placed candles to make a lighted ribbon.
Awareness was created by interacting with people and distributing pamphlets. More than 60 people along with 25 YUVA members participated in the ribbon ceremony. Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker, Corporator Pundalik Raut Dessai, president of YUVA Dr Rufino Monteiro along with other YUVA members were present.
Dr Rufino focused on efforts of government to provide treatment for AIDS patients. Kuncalienkar said that prevention is better than cure and awareness has to be created about safety measures. Vote of thanks was proposed by Raghuvir Mahale, programme co-ordinator.
